What does Localhost Explorer do?

It lists local TCP listeners on your Mac, shows their addresses, folders, process details, and explains likely stop/restart behavior.

Why does a process reappear after I stop it?

Some processes are managed by launchd, Homebrew, an editor, or a desktop app. Killing only the PID may not stop the owning service.

Why are some folders unavailable?

macOS may prevent access to cwd information for some processes. The listener can still be shown even when the folder is unavailable.

What does Open * mean?

Open * means the process is listening on a wildcard address such as *:3000 or 0.0.0.0:3000. It may be reachable from other devices depending on firewall, network, and app settings.

Does it upload anything?

No. The app is local-only by default and does not upload process names, command lines, ports, folders, or scan results.

Report an issue

Include the app version, macOS version, and a short description of the process that looked wrong. Do not share private command lines or folder paths unless you are comfortable doing so.
